European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker

European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker on Wednesday warned EU member states not to make religious distinctions when deciding to admit refugees, as the bloc grapples with an influx of people fleeing war in the Middle East.

"There is no religion, there is no belief, there is no philosophy when it comes to refugees," Juncker said in a speech to the European Parliament during which he unveiled a major new migration plan. "We don't distinguish."
