US Secretary of State John Kerry on Monday left Switzerland for Boston where he will be treated for a broken leg suffered in a cycling accident.

A State Department spokeswoman confirmed that Kerry's plane had taken off from Geneva airport, and the top US diplomat tweeted, in French, that he was "particularly grateful to the police and remarkable medical teams in Geneva and Scionzier," referring to the French Alpine village where he fell off his bike Sunday morning.
