US Secretary of State John Kerry and Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu began talks in Berlin Friday over the escalating Israeli-Palestinian violence, as a new knife attack hit west of Jerusalem.

The two leaders, who last met in New York at the end of September, are holding talks which are expected to last several hours, a US diplomat said.
