A lawyer for Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman filed an appeal on Tuesday to block his extradition to the United States, where he faces drug and murder charges.

The lawyer, Andres Granados, dropped off the documents at a court in Mexico City, which he said will hand them over to a panel of appellate judges.
