Nigerian troops have rescued 1,880 civilians from Boko Haram's Sambisa Forest stronghold in the restive northeast in the past one week, a military commander said on Wednesday.
The forest, covering an area of about 1,300 square kilometres (500 square miles), is a stronghold of the Boko Haram islamists who kidnapped over 200 schoolgirls in 2014.
