Syria attacks

The ceasefire in Syria is holding "by and large" despite isolated "incidents" of fighting recorded over the weekend, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said Monday.

"As of now I can tell you that by and large the cessation of hostilities is holding even though we have experienced some incidents," Ban told reporters in Geneva.

The United Nations-backed taskforce monitoring the fragile truce is "now trying to make sure that this does not spread any further and that this cessation of hostilities can continue."
