Turkey PM: Reinstating death penalty needs debating in parliament

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim on Monday said his government cannot remain indifferent to demands for reinstating the death penalty to punish coup plotters but added that the issue must be deliberated in parliament.

"The people's demand is an order for us. It would not be correct to act in haste but we cannot ignore our citizens' demand," Yildirim said. "It is an issue to be deliberated in parliament as it requires a consitutional change."
