Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday called for the formation of a new government as soon as possible, saying political parties should put the country first after inconclusive legislative elections.

"Everyone should put their egos aside and a government must be formed as soon as possible, within the constitutional process," Erdogan said in a televised speech, ending almost four days of public silence after the ruling party lost its majority in Sunday's vote.
