The UN's Syria envoy Staffan de Mistura on Thursday urged Al-Nusra fighters to leave eastern Aleppo so that civilians could access relief, offering to personally escort them out of the embattled city.

"If you decide to leave with dignity... I am personally ready to physically accompany you," de Mistura said, in a direct appeal to the group seen as Al-Qaeda's affiliate in Syria.
