Venezuela's highest court on Wednesday suspended the inauguration of three opposition lawmakers who were due to take office next week, effectively undoing the two-thirds majority the opposition won in landmark legislative polls.

The Supreme Court of Justice "orders the provisional and immediate suspension" of procedures to officially install three lawmakers from Amazonas state in the National Assembly, it said, after President Nicolas Maduro's badly defeated party challenged nine of its opponents' victories.
