British bank Barclays saw net profits sink by more than half in the first quarter, hit by a large impairment at its Africa division, it said Friday.
Profit after taxation dived 56 percent to £190 million ($245 million, 225 million euros) in the first three months of 2017 from a year earlier, after taking a vast £884-million charge on its Africa unit, Barclays announced in a statement.
