Hong Kong's flag carrier Cathay Pacific Wednesday said its first-half net profit dropped 82 percent to HK$353 million ($45.52 million) from a year earlier, amid a Chinese economic slowdown and intense competition in the industry.

The airline's revenue for the period also fell 9.3 percent to HK$45.68 billion.
