The EU's chief Brexit negotiator warned Tuesday it was "difficult to imagine" any interim deal to cover the time between Britain leaving the bloc and reaching a full trade agreement.

"As we don't know what the UK wants and is waiting for, it's difficult to imagine a transitional period," Michel Barnier told a press conference in Brussels.
