German stocks extend gains, rise more than 3.0% in mid-afternoon trade

German stock prices extended their gains in mid-afternoon trade on Tuesday, adding more than 3.0 percent as markets recouped some of the heavy losses sparked by the British vote to quit European Union. 

The blue-chip DAX 30 index rose by 3.1 percent to an intraday high of 9,554.41 points and the mid-cap MDAX index rose by 2.45 percent to 19,384.95 points.
