 Wall Street stocks fell sharply Friday after Federal Reserve officials signaled the US central bank could hike interest rates as soon as this year.

At the closing bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average stood at 18,085.45, down 2.1 percent. The broad-based S&P 500 shed 2.5 percent to 2,127.81, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index lost 2.5 percent at 5,125.91.
