Abu Dhabi - Arab Today
The head of the Pakistan Business Professional Council (PBPC) in Abu Dhabi has urged Pakistani companies to participate in Expo 2020 in the United Arab Emirates.
“It is the best opportunity for Pakistan to showcase its skills and products to the world. Pakistan should not miss the bus,” said Dr. Qaiser Anis.
Expo 2020 is scheduled to take place in Dubai from October 2020 to April 2021. The exhibition will bring together businesses from around the world. It is being organized by Paris-based Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) in collaboration with the UAE government.
The theme for Expo 2020 is “Connecting minds, creating the future.” Businesses from more than 100 countries are expected to participate.
Pakistan’s current export growth is stagnant, and Anis said Expo 2020 is an excellent opportunity to change that.
“In Pakistan, we have lot of money but no structure. It is the responsibility of the commercial section in the Embassy to bring as many Pakistani companies as possible to Expo 2020,” he told Arab News.
Anis stressed that there is a strong bond between the two countries: “The UAE respects Pakistan a lot. This relationship will never fade.
“The UAE is a very business friendly country,” he continued. “Its liberal policies, tourism, free zones... It is an exhibition and business hub. From diplomacy to the business deal, people from all parts of the world come to Dubai. Everything happens here.”
Anis has high hopes for the new government in Pakistan. “Imran Khan is an honest person who has already served the country in many ways. I am confident, if a leader like him is on a driving seat, the country will go in the right direction. If leaders are honest and selfless, then most complicated things can be sorted,” he said.
