The liver function of China's Nobel Peace Prize laureate Liu Xiaobo "has deteriorated", the hospital treating him said Thursday, raising fears about his future.

China Medical University No 1 Hospital said on its website that Liu, 61, may also have a blood clot on a calf muscle and that a group of medical experts have adjusted his treatment plan.
