Ahmed Qarata, Member of the Council of Representatives, Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, President of Bahrain Cycling Association and Dr. Malallah Al-Hammadi, a renowned consultant, have expressed their pleasure to attend the girls competitions of Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League for Youth Centres, People with Disabilities and Girls, held at Khalifa Sports City Hall in Isa Town.
The league is organised for the fifth consecutive year under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Honorary President of Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities.
The officials attended some of the matches of the league and were received by Shaikh Saqr bin Salman Al-Khalifa, Assistant Undersecretary of Authorities and Youth Centres and members of the organising committee. They visited the photo gallery organised on the side-lines of the league and met with the participating teams and referees.
They valued the care and patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa of the Bahraini youth and sports movement by organising events that invest in their energies and improve their skills and talents such as HH’s annual futsal league, reflecting his care about local sports and talents.
Qarata thanked HH Shaikh Khalid for providing the perfect environment for the Bahraini youth to meet and compete in a brotherly atmosphere that strengthens social bonds between them and assist them in exchanging expertise and skills.
Qarata said the initiatives of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa reflect the concern of the Wise Leadership and efforts to embrace the youth and involve them in the development of the nation.
On his part, Shaikh Khalid lauded HH’s support to the youth and sport movement in the Kingdom of Bahrain, adding that Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League has become one of the most popular sports events among the Bahraini youth, as it reflects the social and humanitarian initiatives of HH to strengthen cohesion and social bonds between the Bahraini youth who represent all of the areas, villages and towns of the Kingdom, as well as integrating people with disabilities with all sorts of events and encouraging female athletes to engage in more activities.
He also appreciated the continuous efforts paid by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, Headed by H.E Minister Hisham bin Mohamed Al-Jowder to empower activities dedicated to the youth of Bahrain.
Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League is jointly organised for the fifth consecutive year by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs and the Media Office of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, under the slogan #Generations_Meeting and comes as part of the initiative of HH. Launched on July 24, the league will continue to the 14th of September. It includes 59 teams that represent youth centres, local unregistered clubs, people with disabilities and girls' teams for the first time.
Four teams qualify for semi-finals
Sanad Youth Centre successfully qualified to the semi-finals of the youth centres and unregistered clubs tournament of the league after winning Rasrumman Youth Centre 5-3 in one of the most exciting matches of the quarterfinals of the league.
Sanad was losing by 3-0 in the first minutes of the match, but thanks to Mohammed Ibrahim, Raed Baba and Ali Abdul-Aziz, they managed to turn the table on their opponent, win the match and qualify to the semi-finals among the final four winners in the league.
The second match was between Muharraq Youth Centre and South Sehla Youth Centre. It ended by a score of 3-2 for Muharraq in penalty shootouts, after the original time of the match ended and the score was 0-0.
Penalty shootouts also determined the winner of the third match of the day, when Jidhafs Youth Centre won Hamad Town Youth Centre 2-1.
In the final match of the day, Buquwa Youth Centre eliminated the first nominee to win the title of the league Al Naeem Youth Centre after winning by a score of 7-6.
Muharraq Youth Centre will meet Jidhafs Youth Centre in the semi-finals of the league, which will also witness a match between Sanad Youth Centre and the underdog of the league Buquwa Youth Centre.
The semi-finals of the girls' tournament will be held on Sunday and will include two matches between Team Will and Team Giving at 5PM, and Team Determination and Team Hope at 6PM. The winning teams will play against each other in the final match of the tournament on September 14.
