Under the patronage of First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) and President of Bahrain Athletics Association Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the 7th edition of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO 2017) will kick off tomorrow Wednesday (April 19). The two-day event, that will be held at Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre hall, comes within Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad's science initiatives and is organized by AMA International School in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Bahrain Exhibition and Tourism Authority (BETA).
Shaikh Khalid affirmed that continuity of the scientific forum in its seventh consecutive edition asserts its success in achieving set up goals of showing the students' creative and innovative potentials in the scientific and technological field. He hailed the scientific gathering which will positively impact on development of Bahrain's scientific movement.
Shaikh Khalid added that holding such functions in Bahrain reflects educational development thanks to the leadership's support. He pointed out that the scientific event will contribute to yielding a creative and innovative generation capable of playing a part in boosting performance and productivity. He noted that the function is an opportunity for the participants to showcase their innovative talents in the robot world, wishing them every success in the competitions.
More than 100 public and private schools of all stages are taking part in the Olympiad to come forward with the best robotic innovations and designs. The winning team who clinch the first place will have a chance to take part in the World Olympiad that will be hosted by Costa Rica next November.
The educational function will tap on the students' scientific innovation talents by giving them the opportunity to learn about the modern scientific methods in Information Technology and equipping them with new educational skills.
The organizing committee has finalized all procedures to ensure success of the event which is considered one of the most important annual educational functions in Bahrain aimed at promoting creativity and innovation in education and highlighting the students' talents in line with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030.
The first edition of the World Robot Olympiad was launched in October 2011.
