U.S. television network NBC says it plans to air the \"American Comedy Awards\" ceremony in May. Produced by Don Mischer Productions, the program will honor individuals who have achieved new heights during the past year in both film and television. The show will also pay tribute to some of comedy\'s most enduring personalities. The names of the program\'s host and honorees have not been announced yet. \"For all of the award shows on television, not one is devoted to comedy, and that\'s not so funny. So we\'re thrilled to be part of a show that will celebrate the community of talented, innovative people who make us laugh each and every day,\" Mischer said in a statement Wednesday. \"We all love a good laugh and the \'American Comedy Awards\' will be full of gut-busting material from the best comedians in our business,\" Paul Telegdy, president of alternative and late night programming for NBC Entertainment, said in a statement. \"With creative genius Don Mischer at the helm, get ready for a night of great hilarity. No joke.\"
