Jerry Seinfeld and Julia Louis-Dreyfus embarked on a unique Seinfeld reunion during the 6th season premier episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee Wednesday night.
The two filed into an Aston Martin DB5 -- the James Bond mobile -- to ride around Hollywood on a mission to find a diner for dinner and jokes as part of Seinfeld's ongoing series. But the witty banter on the way is what makes the show.
"You are the James Bond of comedy," Seinfeld told Dreyfus at the start of the episode. "Whatever the mission, whatever the situation, you come in and kill it."
The duo run into Hilary Swank on the way, and another woman whom Seinfeld offends only slightly with an exclusionary joke. "Because you're so charming you got away with insulting her...profoundly," Dreyfus joked.
"Do you think I'm nice?" asked Seinfeld.
"I think you can be nice," Dreyfus mused, "You're nicer than Hitler."
The Acura-sponsored episode moves inside after a laugh-filled walk around Hollywood and is met with the obstacle of lukewarm coffee. Once Dreyfus fixes the problem ("that guy's calling me an [expletive] behind my back") the Seinfeld comedians get back at their game of nostalgia and story-telling.
The episode comes after both Jason Alexander and Michael Richards appeared during earlier seasons. Jim Carrey, Steve Harvey, Stephen Colbert, Bill Maher and Trevor Noah are expected to join Seinfeld for coffee in coming episodes of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee which air on Wednesdays at 11:30 p.m..
