BBC America says its Victorian London-set crime drama series "Ripper Street" has been renewed for a third season to begin shooting in May. Created by Richard Warlow and starring Matthew Macfadyen, Jerome Flynn, Adam Rothenberg and MyAnna Buring, the show will continue to be co-produced by BBC America. In a new landmark deal, Amazon has acquired U.K. subscription streaming rights to the program. The eight-part second season premiered in the United States Feb. 22. "The series is a vivid, sensual and violent drama that explores the lives of those who have seen the worst of humankind, but who nonetheless struggle each day to bring law to the lawless in the dark heart of London, as it stumbles toward the 20th Century," the network said in a news release.
