Sonic Highways will receive a second season at HBO.
Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl announced the news in an interview with NME published Monday. The documentary miniseries premiered in 2014, and ran for eight episodes on the premium cable channel.
"There is going to be another Sonic Highways season," he revealed. "It might or might not be international ... It might only be England, or be England and other places. Or maybe it's places in America and people from other countries that are inspired by these places in America."
"The great thing about the idea, the concept of the project, is that it can be anywhere because every city has some sort of musical history," he said. "Of all places in the world, England, and the U.K., just seems like it would be shooting fish in a barrel."
The first season of Sonic Highways saw Grohl and the band explore the musical history of different U.S. cities. The Foo Fighters traveled to studios in Chicago, Washington, D.C., Seattle and more to record and interview artists such as Dolly Parton and Ian MacKaye.
