Lucasfilm and Disney announced Sunday the addition of two new actors to roles in the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII.
Relative unknowns Crystal Clarke and Pip Andersen were two of more than 37,000 aspiring actors to attend open casting calls for the film at some 11 cities across the United States and Britain, a release from the studio said.
Clarke is an American actress whose first feature, The Moon and the Sun, is set to be released in 2015. Andersen has worked mostly as a stunt man and most recently appeared in a Spider-Man ad for Sony.
"The Star Wars universe has always been about discovering and nurturing young talent and in casting Episode VII we wanted to remain absolutely faithful to this tradition. We are delighted that so many travelled to see us at the open casting calls and that we have been able to make Crystal and Pip a part of the film," said producer and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.
The release also gave an update on Harrison Ford, who sustained a leg injury during filming on Episode VII.
"Harrison is doing well and is looking forward to returning to the set soon," the release said.
The film is scheduled to be released Dec. 18, 2015.
