Egyptian actress Donia El Masry spoke to Arabstoday about her new television projects and explained why she was enjoying the roles. “This year I’m participating in 2 shows. One is the series ‘Arafa El Bahr’ with actor Nour El Sherif, where I play his daughter. She is rebellous and thinks for herself.” About working with Nour El Sherif, Donia said “Whatever I say or however I describe Nour El Sherif, I could never explain how much I think of him. He is a very beautiful man who stands by everyone, small before big. Ever since my first scene with him, I felt like he really was my father and that the location was my home. Working with Nour is fun and I am happy that this show will be part of my career and that I worked with a great actor like him.” About her other television series, she said: “My other show is ‘Gameat El Dowal, 9’ which also stars actor Khaled Saleh. I play an economy teacher who likes his character's son and wants to marry him... When I first met him [Khaled Saleh] I thought he didn’t know me, and I was surprised when he told me I did a good job in the series ‘Safeya’s Cause’.” She continued, saying she had even more projects on the way: “There is another series, but outside the Ramadan race. It's called ‘The Avenger’ (AL Montakem) and it is a series made up of 120 episodes that will be shown after Ramadan.” Regarding the fierce competition between television shows during the Holy month of Ramadan, during which many Arabic television stations offer high quality programming, Donia said “Nothing new happens in Ramadan except that a lot of Cinema stars take TV drama roles, like Ahmed El Sakka, Kareem Abdel Aziz.” Donia El Masry started her acting career only recently but shot to fame after a series of successful acting roles, including that of ‘Fardos’ in the series ‘Safeya’s Cause’ (Qadeyet Safeya) alongside actress Mai Ezz Eldin.
