The export of jewellary from the country witnessed an increase of 76.5 percent in first two months of current fiscal year as compared to same period of last year.
The jewellary export rose to $1.054 million in July-August (2018-19) against the export worth of $0.597 million recorded during July-August (2017-18), according to a latest data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
Meanwhile export of gems witnessed a slight decrease of 0.35 percent as it declined to $0.571 million in the period under review from $0.573 million in same period of the preceding year.
On monthly and yearly basis, the export of jewellary was recorded at $0.242 million in August as compared to the export of $0.812 million in July 2018 and 0.305 million in August 2017, thus recorded a decline of 70 percent and 20 percent respectively.
Similarly the export of gems in August 2018 also fell by 65 percent and 57 percent when compared to the export during July 2018 and August 2018 respectively.The gems exports fell to $0.145 million in July 2018 from $0.42 million in July 2018 and $0.34 million in August last year.
