Qatari female designers have lauded the opportunity to participate in the current edition of Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition, as part of a new initiative aiming at showcasing collections from emerging local talent,‘Young Qatari Designers’, which is launched in this year’s edition for the first time.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Qatari designers said that the initiative gave them the chance to showcase their talents with pride for being alongside some of the most renowned brands in the world.
Taking part in the initiative are: Fajr Al Attiyah (Trifolglio), Ghada Al Buainain (Ghada Al Buainain), Nour Al Fardan (Noudar), Nouf Al Meer (Nouf Jewellery), Sara al Hammadi (Sara &Co) and Nada Al Sulaiti (Hairaat).
Designer Nouf al Meer said that the Qatari designers wing in the exhibition is witnessing a remarkable turnout, more than expected, adding that the last day of the exhibition will reveal the total value of sales during the event.
She noted that the participation alongside famous international brands represents an invaluable support from the competent authorities and an incentive that encourages young designers to move forwards, and opens the door before Qatari brands to become universal.
Director of Tourism Festivals and Events at QTA Mashael Shahbik said that the allocation of a special pavilion for Qatari female talents in Doha Jewellery Exhibition is another step adopted by the competent authorities to support young talents.
She expressed admiration for the designs produced by the young Qatari female designers, which stems from the Qatari culture mixed with civilization and a global taste in jewellery, stressing the State's keenness to support young Qatari entrepreneurs by offering them a platform to showcase their products.
