Riyadh - Arab Today
InterContinental Riyadh is hosting the world-renowned French food festival — Goût de France (Good France) — on March 20-28.
It is a unique opportunity to enjoy and share the taste of France. Celebrity chef Laurent Bunel, with his vast culinary experience at InterContinental Cannes, France, will delight guests’ eyes and taste buds.
This gastronomic journey is a perfect illustration of two important aspects of French culture: promoting local specialties and openness to the outside world.
It is an opportunity to share values that are dear to both the French and Saudi cultures.
Goût de France also puts an emphasis on the good part of the name, by ensuring that meals are healthy (low in fat, sugar and salt), that they are as locally-sourced as possible, and that people of all economic backgrounds are able to participate.
In 1912, Auguste Escoffier founded a tradition called “Epicurean Dinners,” which featured the same menu on the same day in several cities across the world. Goût de France follows in the footsteps of this tradition with a desire to pay homage to French cuisine, its capacity for innovation, and its values: sharing, enjoying, and respecting the principles of high-quality, environmentally responsible cuisine.
“When you sit down to eat, you should take the time to breathe, forget the background noise and your daily worries and distractions. The best way is to close your eyes and put down your cutlery after each mouthful, in order to identify the different flavors and analyze what you are feeling,” said chef Bunel.
