The Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority, ADWEA, and the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, Masdar, have discussed the latter’s participation in the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, as well as strengthening their mutual cooperation and coordination.

Their discussion took place during a meeting with Abdullah Ali Musleh Al Ahbabi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ADWEA, and Mohammed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar, in the presence of Anca Westley, Content Development Manager of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week and Special Projects at Masdar, and Ara Fernezian, Middle East General Manager of Reed Exhibitions.

Al Ahbabi highlighted the desire of the ADWEA to further enhance its cooperation with strategic partners, to serve its goals and future plans while adding that its participation in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, which will take place between 15th and 18th January, will promote Abu Dhabi’s international position in innovation, efficiency and sustainable investment, as part of the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030.

He emphasised the importance of ADWEA’s partnership with Masdar in realising its goals, to attain a leading position among the major companies in the water and electricity sectors by 2020 while praising the authority’s leading model of privatisation, which started 19 years ago and resulted in the establishment of 11 companies in partnership with the private sector, reflecting its successful efforts to attract relevant foreign investments.

Al Ramahi highlighted the importance of Masdar’s partnership with government institutions, which he considered a key part of the success of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week while praising the ADWEA’s vital role in supporting the event, which represented a major international platform for governments, policymakers, entrepreneurs and experts in the sector.

Both parties reviewed the details of their potential co-operation, enhancing the ADWEA’s participation in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, complying with its needs, promoting innovation and providing solutions to the challenges of energy efficiency, designing green buildings, rationalisation, clean energy and water, as well as the link between electricity and water efficiency.
