Dubai Municipality and Dubai Healthcare City, DHCC, have announced that they will collaborate on early notification of suspected food poisoning cases so that pathogens can be found within the shortest possible time.
The Foodborne Diseases Surveillance and Monitoring Team of Dubai Municipality’s Food Safety Department recently organised a workshop for hospitals and clinics under DHCC, which was attended by a group of experts from DM and DHCC, and focused on the monitoring and investigation mechanisms of the Foodborne Diseases Surveillance and Monitoring Team.
Sultan Ali Al Tahir, Head of Food Inspection Section and Head of the Foodborne Diseases Surveillance and Monitoring Team, gave a detailed explanation of the role of the team, in addition to the importance of cooperation and coordination between the Municipality and the hospitals and clinics operating in Dubai Healthcare City.
He also stressed the importance of ensuring the implementation of the system of investigation and monitoring, especially as the emirate is preparing to host Expo 2020 Dubai and the importance of training on the system before this important event.
Basheer Hassan Yousuf, Food Safety Specialist in Dubai Municipality, presented the municipality's system for investigating and monitoring foodborne diseases and provided practical examples of the team's success stories and the team's experience in detecting foodborne pathogens for some food poisoning cases in the emirate.
