Sudan water resources

The Irrigation Ministry has allocated 12.5 million dollars to help Sudan develop its water resources.

The money will be used in establishing a number of dams to store rainwater and some wells, Irrigation Minister Hossam Moghazi told MENA on Tuesday.

Part of the money will go to organizing training courses in the field of irrigation and agriculture technologies, Moghazi said.

The grant will partially be used in Damazeen area in the Blue Nile state, where a land set for a joint integration project between the two countries is located, the minister said, noting that it measures 100,000 feddans.

Moghazi said his Ministry intends to establish a cistern to store the surplus in rainwater and floods in Damazeen farm. This will also help protect the farm against floods, he added.

A delegation of experts will be visiting Sudan soon to coordinate with officials about plans of action, the minister made it clear.
