Irrigation Minister and Water Resources Hossam el-Moghazi

Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Hossam Moghazi will arrive in Khartoum Monday on a three-day visit to take part in meetings of the foreign ministers of Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan to discuss unresolved issues over the contested Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
In statements to MENA correspondent here Sunday, Egypt's Ambassador to Sudan Osama Shaltout said that the meetings of the foreign ministers of Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia will start on Tuesday.
The meetings are part of an agreement of the three countries to adopt the political and technical solution in order to attain interests for all parties, he added.
He further said that Shoukry will hold talks with his Sudanese counterpart Ali Karti on bilateral ties and ways of boosting them in the various fields.
Talks will also tackle exchanging viewpoints on regional and international issues of mutual interest, especially the situation in Libya and Yemen, he added.
Preparations related to holding the joint committee meetings which will be held in Egypt for the first time between President Abdel Rahman el Sisi and Omar al Bashir will also be discussed during the meeting,
he said.
The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam has been a point of contention between Egypt and Ethiopia, as Egypt fears the dam will have damaging effects on its share of the Nile water.
Ethiopian officials insist the dam will not hamper Egypt's water share and have instead pointed to gains in electricity production offered by the project.
