The Emirates General Petroleum Corporation ‘Emarat’ in collaboration with Emirates Environmental Working Group collected and recycled around 22 tons of paper wastes from its service stations in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. Dr. Rahma bin Mohamed Al Shamsi, Retail Sales Manager at Emarat, expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the continuous cooperation between the Corporation and Emirates Environmental Working Group, aiming to dispose of paper wastes in a healthy and sound way instead of burning such wastes or burying them, which can increase the pollution and further damage the environment. ‘Such an initiative can contribute in preserving the UAE’s environment, especially that these issues are key factors in Emarat’s strategy’, he added. Mrs. Habiba Al Marashi, chairwoman Emirates Environmental Working Group who is also a member of the UN’s International Convention, praised Emarat’s initiative, saying ‘I strongly encourage all the UAE’s companies and institutions to seek change and commit to their responsibilities toward the environment and the society through such effective programs.’
