Abu Dhabi - WAM
Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) in Sharjah has confiscated four wolves in al-Sabkha district, Sharjah, in cooperation with the General Headquarters of Sharjah Police and Sharjah Municipality.
The move comes in line with the administrative order No. 15 of year 2015, issued by H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on banning the ownership of predators and dangerous animals in the Emirate of Sharjah.
Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of the EPAA, said she had received reports from al-Sabkha district inhabitants in Sharjah about people keeping such animals. She said after verifying the reports, an EPPA squad specialised in dealing with dangerous animals, along with personnel from police and the municipality, was set up. Al Suwaidi said the squad seized the four wolves.
She added that the Ruler of Sharjah's order on the possession of predators was clear to ensure public safety.
