Environment Minister Khaled Fahmy met here Thursday with Japanese Ambassador to Egypt Takehiro Kagawa to discuss ways of boosting Egyptian-Japanese cooperation in environmental spheres.
The meeting tackled Egypt's role in negotiations during 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21) and its launch of the initiative of new and renewable energy in Africa.
The meeting also took up the importance of Egypt's role in its capacity as the chair of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN).
The Japanese ambassador, for his part, voiced the keenness of the Japanese government on cooperating with Egypt in the issue of climate change and reducing harmful emissions and high temperature.
