Two persons died while 148 others suffered heat exhaustion on Wednesday due to the heatwave in Egypt, the Health Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
A total of 99 persons out of the 148 were discharged from hospitals of Cairo, Sohag, Giza, Assiut, Aswan, Qalubiya, Qena, Suez, Minya, South Sinai, Damietta and Minoufiya after receiving medical treatment, the ministry said.
The Middle East and North Africa is witnessing a heatwave that claimed the lives of hundreds of people while others were hit by heat exhaustion.
