Alexandria was hit by heavy rains and lightning and loud thunder storms early Sunday.

Spokesman for Alexandria Port Authority Reda Ghandour said Alexandria and Dekheila straits are still closed for the second day in a row due to bad weather, high wind velocity and gale-force waves.

The decision is meant to prevent any collision of ships and ensure safety of maritime navigation, he added.
