The Kef Eddir dam, built in the town of Damous, in the extreme west of Tipaza, will be delivered in early next year and will improve the water supply in the provinces of Tipaza, Ain Defla and Chlef, Minister of Water Resources, Hocine Necib said Saturday in Tipaza.
"The company Cosider should complete this project in early 2015, before the start of the work of large transfers," said Necib, after an afforestation operation organized as part of the celebration of the National Tree Day.
"Tipasa will be the first province where the works of large transfers will be conducted, to be followed by technical tests required before commissioning of the dam," said the minister, on an inspection visit to the province with Minister of Agriculture and rural Development, Abdelwahab Nouri.
The minister also assured that the exploitation of the new dam will put an end to the disturbances in drinking water recorded especially in the western region of the province.
With a storage capacity of 125 million m3, Kef Eddir dam should, once brought into operation, ensure the around the clock supply of drinking water in Tipaza, has added the minister.
