His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Thursday instructed the Minister of Energy, Mohammed bin Dha’en Al Hamili, to work on achieving satisfaction of electricity and water consumers in the northern areas of the country and to provide all facilities and good treatment to customers at the Federal Electricity and Water Authority’s (Fewa) offices. He stressed that serving citizens and providing their welfare as a top priority and a major goal for the cabinet. He also praised the efforts made by the Ministry of Energy to elevate Fewa’s customer service as part of its commitment to the federal government’s strategy and to the best international standards and practices. Shaikh Mohammed made his remarks as he inspected the Fewa’s newly-commissioned control centre in Umm Al Quwain. During the tour at the upgraded three-storey Dh66-million centre, Shaikh Mohammed was briefed on the state-of-the-art SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) system. The SCADA system streamlines Fewa’s control centre operations through the unified deployment of electronic real-time supervisory control network analysis and management and live readings at more than 40 stations in the northern areas of the UAE. He also underlined electricity and water as the vein of life and ongoing progress for the UAE people in light of a keen interest to provide safe and stable life for all nationals and residents nation-wide. Minister for Cabinet Affairs Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Energy Mohammed bin Dha’en Al Hamili, Director of the Office of the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Lt-General Musabbeh Rashid Al Fattan, Director-General of Protocol Department Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Mohammed Saleh, Director-General of Fewa, were also present during the tour.
