The Waste Management Department at Dubai Municipality has started the fourth phase of its unwanted religious book collection through 30 mosques in different parts of Dubai. Around 50 containers of books and other religious print materials were collected in its previous campaigns. Engineer Abdul Majeed Saifaie, Director of the Waste Management Department, said the project is aimed at eco-friendly disposal of unwanted religious publications in line with Shariah. The initiative will help the public stop religious publications from being thrown in waste bins. “We distributed collection containers to the mosques of Al Tawar, Muhaisina, Al Ras, Hor Al Anaz, Al Wuhaida and Al Baraha areas and imams are requested to encourage the public to use these containers,’ Saifaie said. The collected materials will be recycled or disposed of according to Islamic principles in cooperation with the private sector. From : Gulfnews
