The proceedings of the international conference on the development of aquaculture sector, organized by the Agriculture and Fisheries Ministry for two days, will be opened here tomorrow, according to Oman News Agency (ONA). A number of international organizations, such as FAO, the Asian Aquaculture Network (AAN), international experts, World Aquaculture Society (WAS), Arab Agriculture Organization and a number of local and international companies with experience in the field of aquaculture. The conference discusses the Global Trends in Aquaculture and Oman Resources, global supply and demand for aquaculture products, environmental biodiversity and fisheries resources in the Sultanate of Oman, suitable sites for aquaculture in the Sultanate of Oman, food processing, safety and logistics. The Omani Agriculture and Fisheries Ministry has served to develop the aquaculture in a sustainable way, compatible with the environment through applied and scientific researches, laying the strategies and encouraging the private sector companies to invest in this area. 3020 hectares have been allocated for aquaculture projects and preparing studies on aquaculture and its possible impact on fish prices in the Sultanate.   (QNA)
