A rate of 40% of the electrical production for the national consumption will be generated from renewable energy for 2030, CEO of Sonelgaz, Noureddine Bouterfa announced Sunday. This objective is introduced in the national programme of renewable energies (2011-2030) to which an amount of USD 60 billion was allocated, Bouterfa told the national Radio. The period from 2011 to 2014 is a step “to define projects, technologies to use and financial means,” he indicated, adding that some projects are already in the construction phase. Among these projects, he mentioned Ghardaia’s pilot power station which will use all the photovoltaic technologies, the wind power plant in Adrar which “will be brought into service at the end of the year or at the beginning of 2013” and the factory of photovoltaic panels in Rouiba which is “under construction”. The choice of technology to be used, effects of these projects on environment and the partnership method to apply are keys to complete the investment launched for this purpose, according to Bouterfa.
