The contract to supply Turkey with Algerian Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) was extended for ten more years under an agreement signed Wednesday in Algiers by Energy Ministry Youcef Yousfi and his Turkish counterpart Taner Yildiz.
The LNG supply contract signed between Algeria and Turkey 20 years ago was extended to ten more years with increased volume by 50%, Yousfi told the press.
The Minister of Energy and his Turkish counterpart discussed the possibility of expanding the bilateral energy cooperation to the fields of exploration, fertilizers, petrochemical and renewable energy.
As for him, Yildiz welcomed the level of relations between his country and Algeria in the field of energy, expressing the hope that they can be extended to petroleum products and other fields outside of hydrocarbons. "
Moreover, Lt General Ahmed Gaid Salah, Deputy Minister of National Defence, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army (ANP) Ahmed Gaid Salah met with Turkish Defence Minister Ismet Yilmaz.
Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra also met with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.
Minister of Industry and Mines Abdessalem Bouchouareb also met with the Turkish Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekci while Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources Sid Ahmed Ferroukhi met with Turkish Agriculture Minister Mehmet Mehdi Eker.
These activities are part of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s official visit to Algeria at the invitation of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
