Doha - QNA
Doha Film Institute (DFI) has honored Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) in a ceremony for coordinating a short film contest over the theme of the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed), KAHRAMAA said Tuesday in a press release.
During the event that was held yesterday, Mr. Fahad Al Saud Hanzab, head of legal monitoring section at KAHRAMAA's conservation and energy efficiency department, received a certificate of appreciation from DFI on behalf of KAHRAMAA.
Three best short films on the theme, which were declared winners out of total 49 contestants during the second annual Tarsheed anniversary, were screened at the occasion. Apart from the winners, other best five movies were also screened and selected for sponsorship and display across the number of schools in Qatar under Tarsheed Training Program. All these runners-up were also felicitated at the occasion.
The contest was organized in the month of April this year as part of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between KAHRAMAA and DFI to cooperate for creating awareness about the ongoing Tarsheed program. The purpose of the competition was to promote positive values of Tarsheed among residents by involving them into the cause through their audio-visual creativity.
The prime target of Tarsheed is to reduce the per capita water and electricity consumption in Qatar by 35 percent and 20 percent respectively by 2017.
