Cairo - MENA
Minister of Electricity and Energy Ahmed Imam said the ministry will implement more renewable power projects to face up to challenges of fuel shortage. The projects will produce 1340 MW from the wind energy and 140 MW from the solar energy, the minister said. The minister made his comments at a ceremony marking the Arab Energy Efficiency Day. The event aims at raising awareness about the importance of energy efficiency. Many Arab nations are seeking to reduce their dependence on fuel, including oil-rich countries. For example, Saudi Arabia has an ambitious $109 billion plan to develop 54 GW of renewable energy.
