 Egypt and South Sudan approved on Monday joint mechanisms to manage water resources in the best interest of the two countries.
A statement issued at the end of a visit to Egypt by South Sudan Minister of Electricity and Dams Jemma Nunu Kumba said the two sides agreed to sign a protocol covering cooperation in the water resources domains.
According to the statement, the two countries reviewed Egypt's grant projects extended to South Sudan in the fields of clearing weeds from water canals and the projects of digging underground water wells in South Sudan.
The statement said that Egypt asserted keenness on pursuing bilateral cooperation projects in line with the memo of understanding signed in 2006 with full preparedness to meet in the needs of South Sudan in training domains.
Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and Minister of water resources and irrigation Hossam Moghazi conferred earlier Monday with South Sudanese minister on means of bolstering cooperation between Egypt and South Sudan in all fields.
