Leaders of the 28-member European Union will discuss the economic situation in Europe and climate and energy policies during their 2-day meeting in Brussels on Thursday and Friday.
The President of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy, in his invitation letter to the EU leaders, released tonight, said "we will dedicate our first working session to the 2030 climate and energy policy framework.
"It is my intention that we endeavour to complete these negotiations and adopt the relevant part of the conclusions on Thursday," he said.
"We will continue over dinner, where we will also discuss external relations topics and in particular the fight against the Ebola outbreak in West-Africa," said the letter.
On Friday the EU leaders will exchange views on the difficult economic and employment situation in Europe on the basis of a presentation by the President of the European Commission and in the presence of the President of the European Central Bank, he said.
A separate summit of leaders of the 18-member euro area will be held on Friday after the EU summit to discuss the economic situation in the Euro Area.
