Cairo - MENA
A 500 kilovolt power transmission pylon in Fayyoum - 100 kilometres southwest of Cairo - was detonated mid-night Wednesday.
Board chairman of the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC), Ahmed El Hanafy, said some areas in the Upper Egypt governorates of Beni Suef and Menya could face power cuts until installing a new tower.
He urged people to reduce power consumption in rush hours.
El Hanafy urged people to report any information available about anyone could be responsible for sabotage actions.
