Cairo - MENA
The government has taken practical steps to start using solar energy in generating electricity in Egypt.
Lamp posts in a number of governorates are already working via solar energy, said Local Development Minister Adel Labib said Monday, citing South Sinai.
Three 10km roads in South Sinai are illuminated via solar energy, Labib said, noting that the process cost some 15 million pounds.
He stressed the importance of using alternatives to traditional energy sources.
