Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Monday chaired a meeting to discuss the Jordanian electricity system expansion plan until 2020.The meeting highlighted the Jordanian electrical grid’s need of power over the coming years, as well as the contribution of conventional energy, renewable energy and oil shale to the total energy production to secure the Kingdom with its electricity needs.The premier said it was important to follow up on this issue and put it at the top of the authorities’ agenda. He also urged the concerned authorities to develop plans and strategies to improve the capacity of the power generating plants to meet the growing demand for energy in the Kingdom.Present at the meeting were Minister of Finance Umayyah Touqan, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Mohammed Hamed, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy Farouq Al Hiari and the Director General of the National Electricity Company NEC Ghalib Maabreh.
